It is so easy to go through life making decisions based on principle, based on personal opinion and preference, but it does not mean your decisions are based on God’s will and that’s important whenever you’re in need of successful results.
Before Israel had a king “everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 17:6)
Thereafter, scripture introduces people as those who did or did not do what was right in the eyes of God. From David and Asa, who did what was right in God’s eyes, to the unheard name of Omri (1 Kings 16:25) and others, there is a difference in their response to situations and life in general.
Ask yourself, if your name were in the Bible, would you be one who did what was right in the eyes of God or otherwise?
The primary differences in seeking our personal will verses God’s will is found in our willingness to obey and/or relent when the will of God is known. In either case, yielding to the will of God is the posture of a true believer. When you can easily dismiss the known will of God, you ascent to being in control of situations that God has already given a response to and dismiss His authority in your life.
Someone will be Lord in your life! Jesus will be Lord, those around you will be or you will—and with every decision to yield your rights to Jesus as your Lord, you do what’s right in His eyes, and He will always honor and that posture.
