ORACLES: Lesson 49

I stood in my kitchen with a flashback of words spoken by my grandfather many years ago. It was a random thought that highlighted how much I had forgotten about him, and still emphasized the few things that I remembered.
From my quiet reflection, I wondered what words or actions my own children would remember after I’m gone: What have I said or done that unbeknownst to them now, they will relive through a memory later? Will it be my devotion to God, my laughter, my cooking, my hugs, my endearing words or my constant reminder to “straighten your posture”? What will I really leave behind?
I want to leave my own with something of meaning. How about you with your own? Everyday we’re writing a letter to those we love with our words and actions. They will reflect upon many things or they will remember just one thing. We have an opportunity to underscore what we value most and stress matters deemed important. It’s been said, “more is caught than taught”, and so, what from your life will those around you catch? Will it be your generosity, your work ethic, or your quick wit— just know that something will be etched in their mind, and I for one, think it’s worth consideration.
I smiled in memory of my granddaddy. My prayer is that those I love will smile in quiet reflection of me too.
