ORACLES: Lesson 30

Don’t base your success on someone else’s failure. God can do it for you if you base your success on His promise.

Too often we disqualify ourselves from what God has made possible because of what happened to someone else. For instance, many dismiss marriage because of the failure of so many others. Some won’t go to a doctor because of what happened to someone else. And still, there are those who won’t pursue a goal because it didn’t work out well for a friend. Decisions like these keep you from having God’s best!

The failings in someone else’s life should not be the measuring cup for what God has for your life! Don’t limit your options when you don’t know the circumstances or position of faith within those who tried and failed. Anything you dream, desire or strive towards is possible! You don’t know the plans God has for you and you’ll only find out when you try! Or, try again!

God’s promise is the only standard you need to determine your success. And His Word says, you can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13); that He’s commanded the blessing on the work of your hands (Deuteronomy 28:12); that His favor lasts a lifetime (Psalm 30:5); and He gives grace and glory (Psalm 84:11); even more, whenever you commit your ways to Him, He shall bring it to pass (Psalm 37:5). Now, don’t just shout about it, believe it!

And if you’re determined to follow someone, then Paul exhorts, follow or “imitate” those who through faith and patience inherit the promises of God. (Hebrews 6:12) Find those who are already where you aspire, those who know how to attain and use their success as a template or pattern for your hopes and dreams.

Success is possible with the right mind!
