ORACLES: Lesson 24

There is a reason for what makes you uniquely you!

There are some personalities that are very methodical in nature, and then there are those who live on the edge, very spontaneous. Neither is wrong because both offer what’s needed in life to appreciate everything God has made possible. In fact, most times, the two personalities attract to each other, striking a beautiful balance in friendships, marriages and even business relationships.

Obviously, in the same way that people attract, people clash as well. Most times it’s because we try to change people or we simple don’t understand them. Saul won many wars using what was comfortable for him. David however, tried on Saul’s armor and recognized it to be too much. (1 Samuel 17:38) He had to use for Goliath the approach that worked for him when he killed the lion and the bear. David couldn’t be like Saul nor could Saul understand David yet both were effective in their protection of Israel during their time.

In the same way, you’ve got use what God gave you. You’ve got to be the person God designed you. You were not birthed as a copy, you were birthed an original. Stop trying to fit in someone else’s mold and don’t try to make other’s bend into yours.

Find what works in your life and celebrate it. Don’t discount your differences no matter how strange or quirky it is perceived to be by someone else. Everything about you is necessary for what God has called you to. Therefore “don’t think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but think soberly” because there are many members in one body, but all the members don’t have the same function (Romans 12:3-5); which means, you don’t have to compete or be intimidated by anyone. Just do your work.

It may sound funny, but some people have big a personality because they’re designed to make others feel comfortable. Some are meticulous because they are destined to create innovative technology. In other words, just like Jesus said the man was born blind so that the works of God would be revealed (John 9:1-3), or Lazarus was sick for the glory of God (John 11:4), there is a reason you are uniquely you, and “they” are uniquely “them.”

Don’t despise whatever it is that makes you different; instead, cultivate it. If you like words, use them. If you must disassemble things in order to inspect it, take it apart. If you need people around you, find them. In other words, don’t compromise yourself because others don’t understand. They can’t understand because we’re all on a different life-track! There is a reason for your difference. You may not understand it today, but there will be a day when who you are is needed, when who you are is deemed of great importance and when who y
