ORACLES: Lesson 15

Make decisions today that you won’t regret tomorrow.

“According to multiple sources on the Internet, the average amount of remotely conscious decisions an adult makes each day equals about 35,000.” That is a lot of reasoning and analytical thinking going on for one person!

With that many decisions, we’re bound to make one or two mistakes. And if so, it’s better to decide on the wrong shoes to wear than to decide on the wrong person to welcome in your life. It’s better to make bad decisions regarding the incidentals of life, and not the vital issues. In essence, it’s simply better to ponder before making hasty decisions.

Decisions are logically made with a list of pro’s and con’s. They’re made a little easier when counsel from those we love and those who love us is given. Decisions, whether long term or short, are better made when possible outcomes are contemplated. There are a myriad of ways in which we decide, but the reality is, whether we make split second or overly analyzed decisions, both can lead to regret. Which means, the best way to make a decision (I have found) is when we inquire of the Lord. After all, in Him are hidden all of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He is not just Counselor, according to Isaiah 9:6, but through the Spirit of wisdom, comes length of days, riches and honor, pleasantness, peace and happiness! (Proverbs 3:16-18) The very results we can all appreciate.

So before you make any decision, no matter how small, I say, ask the Spirit of God. He tells you what’s best for you for every situation. You don’t have to figure life out on your own. And, there is no area in your life in which He is not willing and able to advise. He speaks so that you don’t have to live with regret. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly (Psalm 1:1), and wise is the one who asks the Lord for insight, foresight and wisdom.

For the wisdom of God is pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits [deeds], without partiality and without hypocrisy. (James 3:17) Therein you can have confidence and rest when He responds to your query.
